“Al-Mawasi Raids”: Israel Targets 3 Hamas Officials

The Israeli army announced that it had targeted three Hamas officials in its attack on the Al-Mawasi area in Gaza, without confirming the death of the “targets.”

The attack on the tents of displaced people in the safe zone in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, during the middle of the night, resulted in the death of 40 Palestinians and the injury of 60 others with varying degrees of severity.

The airstrike, conducted by warplanes, left three large craters where the targeted tents were located.

According to the Israeli army, the attack targeted Samer Ismail Abu Diqqa, the commander of Hamas‘s air force in Gaza, Osama Tabash, the head of reconnaissance and targeting in Hamas’s military intelligence division, and Ayman Al-Mabhouh, a Hamas official.

The Israeli army stated that the three were “directly involved” in the October 7 attack and had worked on plans against the army and the state of Israel in recent times, without providing further details.

However, the Israeli army did not confirm the death of any of these officials. Meanwhile, Palestinian sources and the Hamas movement have not commented on the army’s mention of these names.

“Information and Surveillance”

Israeli Army Radio stated: “This is an assassination attempt targeting three senior Hamas leaders.”

It added: “Two of them are officials in Hamas’s military intelligence.”

The radio quoted an Israeli security source saying, “There is high intelligence confidence that the three were at the site of the attack.”

Both Israeli Army Radio and the “Ynet” news website described the attack as “unusual.”

The Israeli army said, “Before the attack, a long process of intelligence gathering and continuous aerial surveillance was carried out during the hours leading up to the execution, confirming their presence in the area.”

Nevertheless, Palestinian medical sources stated that 40 bodies were recovered and 60 people were wounded from the site of the Israeli attack.

In recent weeks, the Israeli army has attacked humanitarian sites in Gaza without prior warning, claiming the presence of militants.

Israel’s Channel 12 News observed that international media focused on this attack, considering it the most violent on a humanitarian site in Gaza, where Palestinian displaced people are located.
