An African country tops national geographic’s 2024 must-visit destinations list
National Geographic has announced its nominations for the best tourist destinations to visit during the current year of 2024.
Time Out magazine reported National Geographic’s list of top destinations for this year, which included 20 destinations from around the world, with Kenya leading the list.
Kenya Takes the Lead
The African country boasts unique tourist attractions for safari enthusiasts, such as the Giraffe Center and Nairobi National Park.
It also includes Masai Mara National Reserve, Amboseli National Park, and Tsavo East National Park. For enthusiasts of African cultural heritage, Kenya is home to the Karen Blixen Museum and the National Museum of Kenya.
A Special Year for Niagara Falls
Ranked 11th on National Geographic’s list of nominations, Niagara Falls is recommended for visiting this year among the world’s top tourist destinations.
What enhances the appeal of this tourist destination for visiting this year is that it will be a great spot to observe the total solar eclipse, expected to occur on April 8th, 2024.
Sri Lanka for Tea Lovers
Also among the nominations is Sri Lanka, presented by National Geographic in 16th place, among the top tourist destinations to visit this year.
This is because the famous island witnesses tea harvesting at certain times of the year, which is an exceptional sight as it is the world’s largest tea leaf producer.
Other Destinations on the List
The top ten destinations on National Geographic’s list of must-visit tourist destinations this year are as follows, with Kenya leading the list.
Following Kenya, Paris, the capital of France, came in second place, followed by Georgia in third place, and from the U.S. state of Alaska, Katmai National Park ranked fourth.
In fifth place came the Japanese city of Kyoto, then in sixth place, Colombia, followed by New Mexico City in the United States.
In eighth place came the Republic of Algeria, then in ninth place, Western Australia, and in tenth place, Panama.
