Anti–new leader slogans heard in a Tehran neighborhood
Slogans opposing Mojtaba Khamenei were chanted in Tehran after his election as Supreme Leader, according to a video posted on social media on Sunday.
In the 17-second clip, filmed at night from the window of a building, female voices can be heard chanting “Death to Mojtaba,” while religious chants echo in the distance, according to Agence France-Presse.
The agency said it could not determine the exact location where the video was filmed or whether similar chants were heard in other parts of the city.
On Sunday, Iran’s Assembly of Experts announced the election of Mojtaba Khamenei as Supreme Leader, succeeding his father Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the start of the U.S.-Israeli attack on Tehran on February 28.
