Assylan tribes in Shabwah rally to reject Houthi and the Brotherhood

Dozens of Assylan tribal leaders gathered in the Yemeni province of Shabwah on Thursday to protest the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organization’s handover of their areas to the Houthis without a fight.

Popular and tribal movements in Shabwah province in southern Yemen have expanded since late September, shortly after Houthi militias took control of three directorates in northern Shabwah province with the help and collusion of the terrorist Brotherhood organization.

The protesters, who threatened an open sit-in in the liberated parts of Assylan District, denounced what they called the “Brotherhood-Houthi” plan to seize Shabwah Province and attack its tribes and people.

The protesters raised banners calling for the quick return of the Shabwani elite backed by the Arab coalition to secure Shabwah and impose security and stability. They demanded an investigation with the Shabwah Brothers Authority led by Mohammed Ben Adiu.

“During the protest, a tribal leader criticized the Shabwah military and security authorities, who are pushing combat reinforcements to Shuqrah to fight Transitional Council forces while turning their back on Houthi militias and even handing over directorates without a fight in late September”.

The tribal leader revealed that forces from the southern Giants’ Brigades had intervened to fight Houthi militias and liberate the directorates controlled by the coup, but the Brotherhood authorities refused.

He pointed out that the battle with the Houthi militias is a must, and the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood should be aware of this and work to involve the tribes and the Shabwani elite in confronting the threat of the Iranian project.

In a statement, the protest called for an urgent investigation with the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood organization involved in handing over the three districts of Beihan to Houthi militias supported by the Tehran regime without any battles.

It also called on the leadership of the Arab coalition and the internationally recognized government to intervene in the preservation of the remaining liberated directorates in Shabwah province following the joint conspiracy of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Houthi.

The statement called on Shabwah tribes to close ranks, topple the authority of the Muslim Brotherhood, and protect their areas from the threat of the Houthis and the Brotherhood, as they pose a threat to the security of the province located on the Arabian Sea.

Last month, prominent military and tribal leaders exposed the Brotherhood’s plans to facilitate Iranian-backed Houthi militias’ sweep of three districts – Beihan, Assylan, and Ain – in northern Shabwah, with the goal of expanding the rebels’ influence in the south and suffocating Marib province.

Several tribes, including Belaid tribes, gathered in al-Talh District in Shabwah to consider options to confront the threats posed by Houthi and Brotherhood militias to the province.
