Baghdad Summit Goals 2

The summit’s goal is to find solutions to the current domestic political crisis by developing an international strategy to help Iraq provide security, stability, and prosperity. The summit will also hold discussions on issues of interest to the region, of which Iraq is a pivotal state.

Through the Baghdad II Summit, Paris seeks to address a number of issues of concern to the countries of the region, including the consequences of global warming and food security related to the results of the Russian war on Ukraine, desertification, the linking of electrical networks and dealing with natural disasters.

President Emmanuel Macron will make regional issues such as Lebanon and Syria, especially the issue of Syrian refugees in neighboring countries, including Lebanon, which is mired in political, economic, financial and social crises, one of his top priorities at the summit.

Baghdad II also addresses the growing crisis of Iranian Kurdish opposition in recent weeks, which has prompted Tehran to launch missile strikes on the headquarters of Iranian Kurdish opposition parties in northern Iraq that Iran accuses of rebellion.
