Blinken: Reaching a nuclear deal with Iran will not affect our response to malign activities

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran would not affect his country’s ability to counter its malign activities.

Blinken said Washington still believes that reviving the global nuclear deal is the best way to meet the nuclear challenge posed by Iran.

During a hearing on Capitol Hill, Blinken stated: “Our goal is for Iran not to get a nuclear weapon”.

US assertions come a day after National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and his Israeli counterpart, Eyal Hollanta, discussed Iranian threats in Washington.

“Following the productive conversation between President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Bennett on April 24, Sullivan met and tried to discuss a range of regional and international security issues”, the White House said.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced on Sunday that “the US President and the Prime Minister talked about the Iranian file, especially the Iranian demand to remove the Revolutionary Guard from the US list of terrorist organizations”.

In another case, the U.S. secretary of state confirmed that his country would send diplomats back to Ukraine this week.

He said: “The American diplomats will return to Lviv, and then we will evaluate the security possibility of opening our embassy in Kiev”.
