Book highlights Muslim Brotherhood threat in Europe

The Trends Center for Studies and Consulting recently published a book entitled: “The danger of the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe: penetration strategy, financing instruments, and coping procedures,” is a collective study conducted by four specialized researchers.

The book, “The Muslim Brotherhood’s Quest to Penetrate European Communities Through a Deliberate Strategy,” is based on a variety of tools; “These include a religious tool, a media tool, digital platforms, and electronic applications.”

It also relies on a number of sources, some legal and some illegal, to finance its activities, according to the same book; money laundering and currency trafficking, which are difficult to track and identify their sources,” he said.

The book also addresses “the pivotal Turkish role in supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in various European countries with the aim of using it for special interests; The Justice and Development Party rise to power in 2002 made a difference in that support, as the country became a base from which the group could be launched all over Europe.”

On the trends of extremism and terrorism within the European continent, the authors confirm that “with the increasing scrutiny of the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood, we began to witness what can be described as a ‘European uprising’ against the Brotherhood, as some European countries have taken a number of measures aimed at tightening control over its activities and over its affiliated entities and institutions; “But none of these countries has finally banned the group, and these measures are unilateral and not part of a common European action, which reduces its effectiveness.”

Finally, the book recommends a set of measures that can be taken to counter the Brotherhood in European countries; such as “making clear how dangerous the Brotherhood’s rhetoric is for these countries, and blocking and drying up Community funding sources, and establishing lobbies that pressure European governments to adopt more measures aimed at restricting their activities.”
