Turkish shelling targets village in Syria’s Aleppo countryside

“Turkey and pro-Assad factions continue to violate Syria’s sovereignty by shelling villages, an escalation that often leaves dead and wounded.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (a non-governmental organization) said on its website on Thursday, “We observed, after midnight on Wednesday-Thursday, a rocket bombardment carried out by Turkish forces and factions loyal to them on the village of Sheikh Nasser, located in the countryside of al-Bab al-Sharqi, within the areas controlled by the Military Council of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, without information on casualties.”

This is not the only Turkish shelling of Syrian villages in the last 24 hours.

Yesterday evening, the Syrian Observatory reported that Turkish forces, based in the village of al-Yashli in the eastern Aleppo countryside, shelled with artillery shells al-Sayada hill and the village of Umm Adsah in the northwestern countryside of Manbij city.

“On a related note, the same source reported medium-weapons clashes between the Manbij Military Council and pro-Turkish factions on the frontlines and checkpoints between them in the Manbij area, without receiving information on casualties to date.”

On 5 July, the Syrian Observatory reported artillery shelling by Turkish forces on the village of Aoun al-Dadat on the Sajur line in the countryside of Manbij, east of Aleppo.

Al-Bab Military Council is a military organization comprised of residents of al-Bab al-Sharqi area, which was established in 2016 to fight the “ISIS” terrorist group.
