Celebrities: Matt Pokora tells of his crazy meeting with Madonna: “I went to vomit. She wanted…”
As he celebrates 20 years of his career with a successful tour, Pokora already has a wealth of stories to share about his two decades at the top.
The Strasbourg resident recently described his meeting with Madonna in a way that he had never done before. And it’s moving!
“The Epicenter Tour” is the name Matt Pokora gave to his 20-year tour. The 37-year-old former Popstars contender has built a loyal and larger following, and is now one of the most established singers on the French stage. Along the way, the interpreter of “Planets” also got to know some very beautiful people, including a certain… Madonna.
Matt Pokora stunned by meeting Madonna
Recently featured on Amuse Bouche’s show (here), the basketball fan (especially the Lakers) immediately mentioned the American superstar when asked if he was impressed by them. Later, he tells the story:
I trained with her, I was at home, when I did Robin Hood in 2013. At that time, I was training with acrobats to understand the height. Brahim Zaibat, who was with Madonna and practicing in a room in New York City, told me to come and spend 10 days there. At one point, Madonna texts him, tells him who he is training with, and she says, “Tell him to come over for dinner with us tonight.”
It was very cool, I asked a lot of questions, and I learned a lot. She offers me to come and train with her the next day. I know it’s a war machine, and I think it’s deadly as an experiment. I was pretty confident. But it was actually cardio training. I come into the room, how does she train Madonna? It was very hot, his gym was under the roof. And then she turns up the heaters, and she humidifies the room. It had to be 36 degrees.
She starts hypercardio training, with two coaches of her own. It goes on and on and on and on. Abs, rubber bands, everything. After 12 minutes, I start seeing stars. I sit on the floor, she says, “Come on Matt, come on Matt!” I think she even said, “Come on, b*tch!” She steals you and everything!
I was trying to follow her, but I ended up in the toilet, going to throw up. Impossible. I am dead, on the ground, watching her finish swimming practice. She wanted to show the young artist that I was what it was like to be a top performer. Since that day, my training has changed, and now, at the age of 37, I am fining the 28-year-old Matt every day. I saw her do it, and I thought, “Wow, there’s no chance.”
Anecdotally, Madonna was 55 years old at the time, so the story is all the more insane. Matt Pokora will never forget the experience that has shaped her future. A moment out of time with one of the greatest legends in the history of business.
