Clark Cooper: UAE achieved significant rise and built an anti-Houthi missile defense program
“The UAE is a sovereign country that has worked hard to diversify its sources of income and expand its role in the world in multilateral forums”, said Clark Cooper, a former assistant secretary of state for political and military affairs.
“The UAE has also worked to build bilateral relations with unprecedented speed in the ascension”, the US diplomat said, adding that the UAE managed to reach the summit in a short period of 50 years.
“The United States and the United Arab Emirates play key roles in the international community’s efforts to curb the movements of the Houthi terrorist group supported by the Iranian regime”, Clark Cooper said, adding that a strong and integrated missile defense program should be built not only for the United Arab Emirates, but also for the entire region, which could be handled by the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden, or the future administration, and that is looking at a more robust integrated air missile defense program, including integrated maritime defense.
These statements praising the UAE’s regional role are not made by an ordinary American politician, but by a diplomat described by the American media as a “veteran” who served as Assistant Secretary of State for Political and Military Affairs from 2019 to 2021 under former President Donald Trump, and who has served in the U.S. foreign policy files, including on regional security in the Arabian Gulf.
