Despite Truce.. A drones attack claimed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels
A new offensive by Houthi militias despite the humanitarian truce, after two drones loaded with explosives, targeted civilian objects in Yemen’s Marib.
According to a statement from the local authority in Marib (east), Houthi militias targeted, on Tuesday, with two explosive-laden planes, the house of Khalid bin Zbaa, a citizen in the town of Al-Hazma in the district of Raghwan to the northwest part of the oil province.
An explosive-laden plane hit the mud house directly and caused extensive damage, while another car bomb destroyed it completely, the source said.
The attack caused material damage to property and created fear and panic among children, women at home and residents of the rural town, he said.
Houthi militias launched a similar attack on the house of tribal leader Hassan Shafan, a political leader in the same district, leaving three of his sons injured on May 15.
This comes as part of the revenge attacks carried out by Houthi militias against opponents of their sectarian project in Marib province, which for more than two years has been struggling to cope with the legions of death of the putschists due to its tribal and political cohesion.
Iranian-backed Houthi militias continue to target civilians and civilian objects with rockets, artillery shells, and booby-trapped aircraft in liberated areas of Yemen, despite the UN-backed truce that nearing its end.
The humanitarian truce went into effect on April 2nd and will last until June 2nd. The Yemeni government fulfilled its humanitarian provisions through the flow of fuel through Hodeida port and flights to Sanaa airport, while the Houthis did not implement any provision, including lifting the siege of Taiz and handing over salaries.
