“Die Welt”: The danger of Islamism threatens Europe… Muslims suffer the consequences
Europe has begun to reap the benefits of its protection of political Islam and not confronting its extremism, which has made Islamist groups continue to carry out their terrorist plans within European societies.
Europe failed to confront this extremism and conflated it with moderate Islam. The old continent became a city of libertarian Muslims and democracy advocates – and European governments must act to protect Muslims so that they can practice their faith freely and integrate into European societies.
The Danger of Islamism
Islamism is increasingly entrenched in Muslim communities in Europe, as well as in Germany.
According to the German newspaper “Die Welt,” the matter has developed into a plight for the German society that should not be silenced.
The horrific new assassination attempt in Nice’s Notre Dame de La Sompont cathedral, in which a retiree was slit his throat while he was visiting the church while proclaiming “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great), confirmed that political Islam is a killer and is increasingly rooted in European Muslim communities.
The Plight of Political Islam
According to the newspaper, Islamism has become a plight and threat to European society and an obstacle to integration with unforeseen consequences.
Responsible and sustainable policy must work preventively, also with respect to religious extremism.
It is also time to publicly address the problems of the migrant community and not fear unfounded claims of Islamophobia or racism against Muslims.
According to analysts, the time has come for Muslims to enjoy full religious freedom. Europe is indebted to many Muslims who are pro-democracy, pro-liberties, and critical of political Islam and see it as extremism.
According to the paper, action must be taken quickly because German society cannot do without the successful integration of migrants from different countries, cultures and religions.
Religious freedom means that everyone can practice their faith without fear of being attacked in their place of worship for it.
