Mohammed Shawkat, a member of the International Astronomical Union, explained that a small asteroid was recently discovered and has been temporarily designated (CAQTDL2).
He noted that initial calculations indicate that the asteroid will collide with Earth today, Wednesday, at 4:39 PM UTC, in an area located north of the Philippines.
The asteroid was detected at 6:00 AM UTC by an observatory with a 1.5-meter diameter located in the state of Arizona, USA.

Shawkat added that “the asteroid is approximately 1.6 meters in diameter,” dismissing any danger from its impact with Earth, as it is likely to disintegrate upon entering the atmosphere, with only small, harmless fragments reaching the ground.
He further stated that astronomical calculations show the asteroid will pass through the sky over the Arab region before colliding with Earth, specifically over the eastern part of the Arab world, from the UAE, Oman, and the eastern Arabian Gulf. Its brightness at that time will be around magnitude 15, making it visible only through medium-sized telescopes from a completely dark location.
