According to the “Straits Times” newspaper, Barliandojan Siregar, 45, attacked Asjim Erianto, 60, a retired government employee, with a piece of wood around 8 PM last Thursday in North Sumatra.

Deputy Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung stated that “the victim initially managed to escape after the defendant’s attack but later fell due to a head injury, and the defendant continued to beat him until the neighbors intervened.”

The victim was taken to a medical center but died before arrival.

Authorities arrested the accused, Siregar, shortly thereafter, and he confessed during investigations to planning the murder of his neighbor.
