Egypt… 51 Injured in Bus Overturning on Matrouh Road

51 individuals were injured as a result of a bus overturning on the coastal road between Alexandria and Matrouh in northern Egypt. A local official confirmed that the condition of the injured individuals, except for two who are in intensive care, has stabilized.

The accident occurred on Friday afternoon on the Al-Mazah Bridge at kilometer 48 on the northern coastal road.

Matrouh Governorate dispatched 15 ambulances to the accident site, where the injured were transported to Matrouh General Hospital and Ras Al-Hikma Hospital to receive the necessary treatment. Security forces and the public prosecutor’s office began inspecting the accident site, questioning the injured and eyewitnesses to determine the causes of the incident.

The Deputy Minister of Health in Matrouh, Mabrouk Salem, said that the accident “did not result in any fatalities,” noting that the conditions of the injured have stabilized except for two cases that have been placed in intensive care.

He explained that Matrouh General Hospital received 34 injured individuals from the accident, while 17 other injured individuals were transported to Ras Al-Hikma Hospital. He noted that the injuries were mostly moderate, ranging from bruises and wounds to fractures, which orthopedic doctors are handling, in addition to the two cases that required surgical intervention in the intensive care unit due to suspected spinal fractures.

The Deputy Minister of Health affirmed that most of the injured cases from the accident are expected to be discharged from the hospitals by the end of the day, once their health condition is completely stable.

It is worth noting that the coastal road to Matrouh has witnessed several traffic accidents during the summer period, when there is increased interest in visiting this coastal governorate.
