Egypt asks Interpol to arrest Hamza Zawbaa and terrorist elements
The Egyptian state has taken several steps to confront terrorism and pursue Brotherhood terrorist elements abroad for their terrorist crimes against state institutions and targeting them through, inter alia, incitement, murder, spreading rumors and lies to promote hatred against the state and its institutions.
Targeting the Egyptian state
The Fourth Department of Terrorism in Egypt, headed by Counselor Mohamed Said El-Sherbini, decided to arrest Hamza Zawbaa and three others and requested the prosecution to notify Interpol, to include them on the Red Notice, to follow up the accused and to hand them over to the Egyptian authorities, in addition to others, to charge them with spreading false news in case No. 143 of 2022, New Cairo, restricted to the Supreme State Security Registry, No. 773 of 2020.
The referral order stated that, during the period 2019 to October 2021, inside and outside Egypt, the accused, first and foremost, assumed leadership in a terrorist group aiming at the use of force, violence and intimidation at home with the aim of disrupting public order and endangering the safety, interests and security of society, harming and terrorizing individuals, endangering their lives, freedoms, public and private rights and security, and harming national unity, social peace and security.
Terrorist crimes
The referral order said: “The first two defendants, Hamza Zawbaa, assumed responsibility for the media committee of the Brotherhood terrorist organization abroad. The third accused took responsibility for its montage unit. The fourth accused took responsibility for the information unit in the same committee. The second accused took responsibility for the satellite channel committee in the organization’s central media committee”.
Among the charges are that they deliberately spread false news and rumors about the internal situation in the country and abroad by broadcasting via electronic platforms for external channels on social networking videos containing false news and rumors about the spread of the Coronavirus and the failure of the state institutions to take the necessary precautionary measures to confront it, and deliberately not to provide the necessary medical care to the inmates of correctional centers, which would weaken the prestige of the state and its considerations and harm its national interests. Furthermore, all the accused have committed a crime of financing terrorism, including financing a terrorist group, by collecting, providing, possessing, transferring and providing the organization with the subject of the accusation first, directly and by digital means, data, materials, information and funds.
Inciting against Tunisia
Dr. Ibrahim Rabie, a leading Muslim Brotherhood defector, said the Egyptian state is making great efforts to confront terrorism and Brotherhood incitement to target the state and its institutions through various Brotherhood means, foremost among them the Brotherhood’s electronic battalions, which seek to target the Egyptian state through incitement and the promotion of false news.
The Brotherhood leader added that Egypt’s request to Interpol to arrest the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist Hamza Zawbaa is a new and continuous move by the Egyptian state to confront the lies of the Brotherhood, pointing out that the Brotherhood is working to exploit global economic conditions to incite against the Egyptian state.
