El-Sisi: Egypt’s climate summit comes at a very sensitive time
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has confirmed that the current round of the Climate Summit comes at a very sensitive time.
“Our world is facing unprecedented existential threats and challenges that affect our very planet’s survival and our ability to live on it,” the Egyptian president said on Facebook on Sunday.
“Threats and challenges require swift action by all countries to map out ways to save ourselves from the effects of climate change,” he said.
“We look forward to the climate conference moving from the promise stage to the implementation stage with concrete actions on the ground,” he said.
On Sunday, the annual United Nations Climate Change Summit, hosted by Egypt and COP27, kicked off in Sharm El-Sheik until the 18th of this month.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry was elected president of the 27th session of the Climate Conference by “acclamation”.
