Election of the United Arab Emirates as a non-permanent member of the Security Council… And Mohammed ben Zayed: Reflects the trust of the world


The United Arab Emirates (UAE) won a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council on Friday for a two-year term beginning in January 2022.

Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, said, “The election of the UAE… It embodies the world’s trust in Emirati politics, the efficiency and effectiveness of its diplomatic system,” he tweeted.

Sheikh Mohammed ben Rashid, Dubai’s ruler and prime minister, said that the UAE’s membership in the Security Council “reflects its active diplomacy, international position and distinguished development model,” expressing his aspiration for “an active, positive and active membership in the Security Council”.

Besides the United Arab Emirates, Ghana, Brazil, Albania and Gabon were elected as non-permanent members of the Security Council.

The Security Council has 15 members, five of which are permanent members : “the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France,” with 10 other non-permanent members.
