Fires rage near Los Angeles, destroying dozens of homes
On Wednesday, the intensity of a fire increased in the heights of Los Angeles, destroying dozens of homes and burning nearly 20,000 hectares of land in just 24 hours.
This new fire has become one of three uncontrolled blazes near the second-largest city in the United States, according to AFP.
The fire destroyed at least 33 homes and several cabins, according to Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone. To the north of the major city, residents of Wrightwood and Mount Baldy counties were ordered to evacuate their homes.

Jenny Alaniz, a local resident, told KTLA radio in tears: “Our house is going to burn.”
The fire, which broke out on Sunday, had burned 1,600 hectares of land by Tuesday, and losses increased to 19,400 hectares by Wednesday.
Los Angeles Police Chief Robert Luna said that “three people, including one member of his team, are trapped in a remote area near Mount Baldy.”

Thick smoke from the disaster and closed roads are hampering rescue efforts, according to Luna.
He added: “The aerial rescue team is preparing to evacuate them once the smoke clears, while rescuers are also trying to reach them by land in all-terrain vehicles.”
In southeast Los Angeles, the “Airport Fire” continues to rage, having already burned more than 22,000 hectares. According to local firefighters, seven people have been injured in the fire that broke out on Monday.
To the northeast of the major city, a third fire has destroyed 35,000 hectares, and authorities have asked residents of mountain villages to evacuate their homes, while several roads have been closed.
The fires threaten tens of thousands of homes and businesses.
The fires have expanded due to a heatwave that hit the region, with temperatures exceeding 43 degrees in some areas in recent days, before starting to decrease on Wednesday.
