First spacewalk mission – The UAE makes history

History, the future, and glory are constant goals that the UAE is always striving to achieve to show the historic achievement in the Arab world in the exploration of outer space.

The history of the UAE with space dates back more than 40 years from now, when Sheikh Zayed received a team from the American agency NASA, which launched the famous Apollo flight to the lunar surface. The Egyptian scientist Dr. Farouk al-Baz was a member of this team in 1976.

Emirati Space

Today, UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi is succeeding in taking on the first Arab spacewalk outside the International Space Station on mission 69.

Sheikh Zayed’s approach focused on space exploration, and Al Neyadi became the first Arab to swim in outer space, after departing today from the International Space Station to perform maintenance and installation operations for solar panels.

Success in the historic mission of marching outside the International Space Station makes the UAE the 10th country in the world for that mission and painted the UAE planning, training, and qualifying for an unprecedented accomplishment.

The ambitious state came back and fulfilled its dreams and turned them into reality. It entered the adults’ battle with dreams bigger than their own, and it made what many people thought impossible.

starting with the establishment of the Emirates Space Agency, through a federal decree law, advancing the development of the country’s space sector, establishing partnerships, academic programs, investments in research and development projects and commercial initiatives, advancing space science research and exploration, and investing in national cadres.

Ruler of Dubai: The mission is an Emirati-Arab achievement

In celebration of the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the mission, which is considered an Emirati and Arab achievement in the field of space science, came after hard work, effort, and determination over three years of intensive training. Today we saw Sultan Al Neyadi on his first mission in outer space, carrying out missions to install new parts and perform maintenance at the International Space Station.

Bin Rashid Al Maktoum added, “The first Emirati sovereign, the first Arab, the first Muslim, to walk in outer space, and we are proud of that.”

“They say that two-thirds of the sky’s stars have Arabic names,” Bin Rashid said. “Arabs are capable, Arabs are coming, Arabs are creative, if we decide to focus on science, invest in youth and stay away from differences.”

Sultan Al Neyadi tweeted that he was quitting the pressure equation at the International Space Station, becoming the first Arab to walk in space.

Al Neyadi added, “Today, we arrive at a new stop in our march. I have undergone intensive training for more than three years in preparation for this task, which requires high concentration and precision.

Many reports indicate that the United Arab Emirates has made great financial efforts to achieve its ambitions, invested nearly $6 billion in space exploration, established a complete system dedicated to space industry research, owns five research centers, including the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center, and employs nearly 1,500 people in 50 companies in the space industry.

Since 2000, the UAE has launched several communications and research satellites; This makes it the main player in the Gulf region and the Arab world in the telecommunications market.
