Former Egyptian Minister: UAE Foreign Ministry at the Forefront of Detecting and Confronting Extremism and Terrorism

Former Egyptian Foreign Minister reveals UAE's role in cooperation to combat extremism and terrorism

American billionaire and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, reposted a previous video of the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, speaking about terrorism and terrorists.

Musk reposted the video on his Twitter platform, commenting: “He knows what he’s talking about.”

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed said in the video: “Let me say this in English so that you (the dialogue manager) can understand what I’m saying. I know you have a translator, but I want to make sure you understand this correctly: There will come a day when we will see many more extremists and terrorists coming out of Europe due to the lack of decision-making and the attempt to politically take what is right or to assume they know the Middle East and Islam better than we do, and I’m sorry but that’s completely ignorant.”

The Terrorism Threat

In this regard, Ambassador Mohamed Al-Araby, former Egyptian Foreign Minister, says: “The United Arab Emirates plays a major role in confronting extremist and terrorist ideas and has worked with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other Arab and foreign countries to confront this great threat that threatens the interests of the entire world.”

He added that what the UAE and its leaders previously warned against is now happening in the world, and everyone is tasting the bitterness of this brutal terrorism, whether politically, economically, security-wise, or through other major challenges.

He continued by explaining that the United Arab Emirates is making great efforts to strengthen the system for combating money laundering and terrorism financing, through the laws they have enacted and the measures they are taking, where the state communicates at the international level to monitor terrorism financing networks and stop them, in cooperation with other financial intelligence units and with international organizations such as the Financial Action Task Force for the Middle East and special programs for collecting and analyzing financial information.

He emphasized that the United Arab Emirates early recognized the danger of extremist thinking, adopting a preventive approach, where religious discourse has been regulated in its official institutions, religious and media platforms, and religious education programs have been planned to teach multiple programs at different levels and across all levels.
