Former Muslim Brotherhood leader reveals group’s fate on Turkish soil

With the Turkish side moving intensively to accelerate the rapprochement with Egypt, current estimates indicate that Ankara seems prepared to sacrifice the political Islam card in exchange for its regional interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Brotherhood terrorism

A report by Roaya Foundation revealed the intensification of the movement to extradite Brotherhood members to Cairo, after the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Serdam Cham, confirmed in a series of tweets that the Brotherhood is practicing terrorist acts, and that organizations like ISIS and al-Qaeda have infiltrated deep inside them, as well as suffering from divisions and organizational fragility.

“The organization has been subjected to defections and infiltrations, and infiltration of terrorist groups into the Brotherhood, especially ISIS,” Cham said.

The organization lost its former foothold in Egypt and is now associated in the minds of many Egyptians with “explosive bombs” and “killing of innocent people”, which has caused Egyptians to hate the group, he said.

Turkish Investigations

Turkish sources revealed last Thursday that Turkish intelligence services investigated Brotherhood members for carrying out terrorist operations in Egypt. They included charges of supporting the Islamic State in Syria, uncovering their involvement in money laundering, and Turkey accusing Brotherhood members of spying on Arab communities and recruiting them.

Turkish authorities have arrested dozens of members of the Brotherhood terrorist organization; According to a memo submitted by the judicial authorities in Egypt as part of the recent coordination between the two countries, the members of the organization were interrogated about the cases mentioned in the Egyptian Charge Sheet, and investigations are still ongoing, and the Turkish authorities refuse to allow them to leave the country for the time being, until the completion of the investigation.

The Fate of the Brotherhood

Dr. Ibrahim Rabie, former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, says that members of the Brotherhood in Turkey are witnessing a state of panic and great concern at the present time, due to the Turkish rapprochement and the courtship towards Egypt at that time, after it felt that it needed a relationship with the Egyptian state.

The former Muslim Brotherhood leader added that he faces a number of accusations related to terrorism, whether through recruitment and training members and contact with dangerous terrorist organizations worldwide, or through smuggling and money laundering. There are also Turkish investigations with a number of Muslim Brotherhood members in Turkey on various charges, and warned Brotherhood leaders in its territories against attacking or inciting against Egypt, and informed a number of them of the necessity to leave its territories, which has happened successively, which reveals the state of great fear and anxiety of the Muslim Brotherhood at the present time.
