Gaza Truce and Netanyahu’s “Agenda”: Turkish Foreign Minister Reveals Behind the Scenes
Turkey’s Foreign Minister announced Ankara’s efforts to reach a truce in Gaza, revealing another agenda of the Israeli Prime Minister regarding the ceasefire in the region.
Hakan Fidan, speaking about the ongoing war in Gaza, said that Ankara “is in contact with the Hamas movement and will work to provide the necessary support to all parties to reach a ceasefire as soon as possible.”
The minister praised the mediation of Egypt and Qatar to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.
He also stated that “the ceasefire in Gaza does not align with the political objectives of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has another agenda.”
In the same interview, Fidan emphasized that Ankara’s relationship with Arab countries has reached an excellent level, adding that implementing a two-state solution as soon as possible is important for the security of both Israelis and Palestinians.
He added that he will visit Cairo next August to prepare for the reception of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Ankara.
Bombing Continues
The Israeli army continues its bombings and deadly airstrikes, stating that they target fighters of Palestinian factions, particularly the Hamas movement, especially in areas previously declared cleared of fighters.
Once again, the city of Khan Younis, the largest in the southern Gaza Strip, as well as the cities of Gaza and Jabaliya in the north, were targeted by Israeli bombings and airstrikes, according to a correspondent of Agence France-Presse.
