GCC Welcomes Arab Foreign Ministers Decision on Jerusalem
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed, on Tuesday, the decision of the foreign ministers of the Arab countries on the Israeli aggression on the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The Secretary General of the Council, Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al Hajraf, praised the Arab resolution on occupied Jerusalem and its inhabitants, the storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Sheik Jarrah neighborhood, as well as the Arab and international action to confront the Israeli attacks on the Palestinians.
Al Hajraf stressed that these violations and the Israeli decisions to seize Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem, displace its inhabitants and impose Israeli sovereignty on it, constitute a serious violation of international law and threaten peace, security and stability in the region.
He called on the international community to press the Israeli authorities to immediately stop the violations they were carrying out in Jerusalem, to curtail the construction of new settlements and the forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
Al Hajraf stressed the GCC’s support to the Palestinian people in claiming their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on all the Palestinian territories occupied since June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab peace initiative and within the framework of legitimate resolutions and international laws.
The Secretary-General of the GCC expressed appreciation, respect and pride for the position of the defenseless Jerusalemites against the Israeli aggressors and armed soldiers in defending Al-Aqsa Al-Sharif and their legitimate rights.
