Germany Bans a Pro–Muslim Brotherhood Association and Raids Two Others

Germany’s Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday that it had banned the association Muslim Interaktiv, known for its ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, and plans to seize its assets. The ministry also confirmed that police conducted raids on two other related organizations.

According to the ministry’s statement, authorities searched seven properties in Hamburg early this morning, along with twelve others in Berlin and the state of Hesse. These searches were part of a preliminary investigation targeting the associations Generation Islam and Realität Islam, both classified by German security agencies as groups associated with political Islam.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated:  “We will not allow organizations like Muslim Interaktiv to undermine our free society with their hatred, to show contempt for our democracy, and to attack our country from within.”

The ministry explained that the association’s goals and activities were incompatible with Germany’s constitutional order and the principles of mutual understanding among nations.

The minister’s comments referred to a march organized by Muslim Interaktiv in Hamburg, which at the time had been approved by the police. In April 2024, more than 1,200 members of the group called for the “establishment of a caliphate” during that demonstration.

Muslim Interaktiv represents what German authorities describe as a “new generation” of organizations aligned with the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood in Germany. The group operates primarily through social media, using a well-coordinated digital strategy aimed at recruiting, mobilizing, and promoting radicalization among young audiences.
