One of the prominent intellectual references for the Muslim Brotherhood in Germany and Europe… What do you know about the Tunisian Hadi Brik?
The Muslim Brotherhood relies on several methods to continue and spread its ideas, including relying on preachers or media spokespeople with the aim of dominating the political scene and expressing their opinions. Among them is Hadi Brik, a Tunisian preacher and imam, who is one of the prominent intellectual references for the Muslim Brotherhood in Germany and Europe.
Brik was born in Tunisia in 1955, according to the Arab Center for Extremism Studies, and participated in the founding of the Ennahdha Movement (the Tunisian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood). He held several leadership positions in it, such as being a member of the executive bureau and the advisory council.
He studied Islamic sciences in an informal way and does not hold any university degree. He was imprisoned multiple times in the 1980s due to his activities in the Ennahdha Movement. In late 1992, he fled the country and sought refuge in Germany, specifically in the city of Bochum, where he still resides today. He works as an imam and preacher in one of its mosques, Khalid ibn al-Walid Mosque.
Over the past years, he has contributed to the establishment of several Brotherhood structures in Germany and Europe. He is a member of the European Council for Imams affiliated with the International Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood, regularly participating in its various activities and events. Some of his works include “Objectives of Islamic Creed,” “Is There a Reminder?” and “Political Jurisprudence: From Emergence to Decline,” as well as “Ennahdha Movement: From Advocacy to Power.”
