Hamdok in a press conference: Suffering has worsened due to ongoing conflicts
Former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok said, Sunday, during a press conference from the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi, that the humanitarian situation in Sudan is catastrophic, noting that the suffering was exacerbated by the ongoing clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
Hamdok gave a detailed account of what is happening in Sudan: a difficult situation in Sudan and the situation there is catastrophic. He also called on the army command and quick support to stop the war.
He called on the Sudanese people to maintain cohesion and unity, and urged the international and regional community to help and stand by the Sudan. He added: The war is still destroying everything and the humanitarian situation is catastrophic.
The former Sudanese Prime Minister stressed that war must stop today before tomorrow, stressing that peace is the only option available for the Sudanese people to avoid slipping into civil war. He called for an immediate ceasefire and the start of a truce that would allow for the opening of safe corridors.
“There is no alternative but to sit together in dialog leading to a satisfactory solution for all the Sudanese people,” he added.
“This war must stop today before tomorrow to allow Sudan, with all its components, to return to the transitional path that began more than three years ago,” he said.
Hamdok said: I reiterate the call for the army leadership and quick support to immediately sit down for negotiations leading to address the differences that led to this situation.
I will make every effort and make contacts with all capitals to encourage them to move forward and provide all possible assistance to the Sudanese people.
