How Yemen’s Muslim Brotherhood Hinders Taiz Liberation

The Yemeni website “Yemen Window” stated that the Muslim Brotherhood group, represented by the Al-Islah party, stands as a major obstacle to the liberation of the Taiz province from the Houthi rebel militias, by obstructing any real liberation efforts, creating crises and political/military tensions in the city, and opposing all political currents in Taiz.

Observers noted that the practices of the Al-Islah party, based on seizing power and excluding dissenters from various civil and military institutions, are among the main reasons for the failure of Governor Amin Ahmed Mahmoud’s efforts to complete the liberation of the besieged city for the fourth consecutive year.

Yemeni observers and experts from the same website confirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood in Taiz seeks to prevent its liberation while continuing to demand funding for the battles to liberate the province, aiming to attract more forces and support provided by the Arab coalition to invest this financial and military force in the post-war phase.

The Muslim Brotherhood in Taiz and Yemen at large are conducting a smear campaign against the Arab coalition in support of legitimacy, following leaks regarding the coalition’s intention to plan a comprehensive operation to liberate Taiz completely and end the state of war and lawlessness between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Houthis, as well as to strengthen the role of local authorities and security forces in the province.

It is worth noting that the Yemeni army has not made progress on the battlefronts for nearly two years, amidst accusations against the Al-Islah party of hindering military operations on various fronts and preventing them from making any field advancements.
