Hurricane “Gerrit” hits Britain, and the results are tragic
Hurricane “Gerrit” has struck various parts of Britain, especially Scotland and northern England, since Wednesday, causing extensive damage and serious human losses.
The hurricane resulted in the death of 3 men in North Yorkshire, western England, after their car fell into the River Esk. The car was carrying four men, but one of them managed to escape.
The powerful winds generated by the hurricane caused power outages in thousands of homes in Scotland, and train and plane movements were disrupted.
Among the damages caused by the hurricane are fallen trees and damage to homes and properties. British authorities had issued warnings about the hurricane and advised residents to exercise caution and stay away from open areas.
Winds reaching speeds of up to 136 kilometers per hour were recorded in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Last Wednesday, the Greater Manchester area experienced a severe thunderstorm that caused significant damage, leading to citizens’ concerns.
Images posted on social media showed extensive damage across Britain, where trees fell, and strong winds caused buildings to be damaged.
