The General Authority of Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring, “the total number of earthquakes recorded by the Iraqi seismic monitoring network this month reached 48 across the region.”
It added, “Iraq alone recorded 18 earthquakes, 21 occurred in Iran near its border with Iraq, while 3 were recorded in Turkey, 1 in Syria, 4 in Kuwait, and 1 in the Arabian Gulf.”
Earthquakes have become a growing concern for Iraqi citizens, especially since some tremors cause the collapse of old buildings and shattering of windows.
Neighboring countries, especially Iran and Turkey, frequently experience earthquakes and tremors, leading to aftershocks in Iraq, particularly in areas close to the border.
