In his contact with the Tunisian president.. Qatari Emir requests Ghannouchi not to be tried and Doha deportation.. What is the reward?

As events rapidly unfolded in Tunisia, popular rejection of the Brotherhood intensified, and President Kais Saied’s many decisions to assume executive and legislative powers and overthrow the Brotherhood’s Ennahdha Party, Qatar quickly stepped into the crisis line to try to save its Brotherhood allies, notably Rached Ghannouchi, the leader of Ennahdha and the speaker of the Tunisian parliament, whose powers were suspended by Saied’s decree.

Ambiguous communication

A few hours ago, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al-Thani, spoke on the phone with Tunisian President Kais Saied about the latest developments in the country.

Tamim told Saied that the rule of law must be established in countries witnessing a political crisis, the current political crisis must be overcome and Tunisian parties must pursue dialog to overcome it, the official Qatar News Agency reported.

Time connotations

The call came hours after the official spokesman of the Tunisian Economic and Financial Judiciary, Mohsen Al Dali, announced that his country had opened an investigation into the receipt of foreign funding by 3 Tunisian parties, including Ennahdha, and indicated that “precautionary measures” will be taken by the Tunisian authorities against these parties.

Observers and Tunisian politicians have pointed out, commenting on this decision, that Doha is the foreign destination declared by Tunisia, and that the investigations will reveal interesting facts about the Gulf Emirate’s financing of the Brotherhood of Tunisia.

Earlier, the President of the Free Constitutional Party in Tunisia, Abir Moussi, unveiled documents containing Qatar’s financing methods for Ennahdha in Tunisia, pointing out that the Association of Muslim Scholars, led by Al Qardawy, is responsible for passing these funds to Ennahdha after the movement in Tunisia facilitated the establishment of a branch for the association.

In a press conference, she pointed out that Al Qardawy is infiltrating Tunisia, and Moussi described it as “a foreign association, just a front for the financing of Ennahdha, where Doha sends money to Tunisia under the pretext of financing the association and then reaches the treasury of Ennahdha.”

What happened on the call?

Informed Tunisian sources said that Tamim ben Hamad Al-Thani offered Kais Saied a solution to the crisis, a retreat from continuing his decisions that are pursuing Ennahdha, and a failure to prosecute the president of Ennahdha and the frozen The sources added: Tamim wants Rached Ghannouchi to be safely released to Qatar for his protection and immunity, like other Brotherhood members who fled to Doha, which has become a haven for members of the terrorist group, most notably Youssef al-Qardawy and Wadgy Ghoneim.

The sources continued: Ghannouchi’s safe exit is in exchange for the Qatari Al Jazeera’s stop reporting on Tunisia and its attempt to distort events and provoke public opinion against Kais Saied.

The Emir of Qatar pledged to inject a major investment package to support the Tunisian economy and send medical and financial aid to Tunisia so that Saied can confront the crises of Tunisia and stop the weapons threats that Ghannouchi launched by spreading violence and sabotage in Tunisia, similar to Egypt.

For years, Ennahdha has been stockpiling weapons to secure the party’s interests and presence and dominance in Tunisia, according to media reports.

Saied did not show his rejection to the Qatari offer, therefore it is likely that the escape of Ghannouchi, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Ennahdha Party, to Doha, according to sources.

Veiled threat

Observers consider that the circulating manifesto of the Tunisian-Qatari communication published by the country’s official media contains numerous messages demonstrating Doha’s influence on Tunisian territory, the Qatari Emir’s willingness to protect the Muslim Brotherhood and its continued presence, even if the movement is forced to use weapons, strike institutions and undermine security and stability, in exchange for its success in the power race.

Observers considered the statement a threat to Tunisia’s power broker Kais Saied; On several occasions, he has said that Qatar demands a resolution of the crisis with Ennahdha and called this statement « a veiled » threat.
