In “Star Wars”… Seoul Prepares for North Korean Drone Marches
“The Star Wars project” is the name given to laser weapons designed to shoot down drones, deployed by South Korea to become the first country in the world to operate such weapons in its military.
According to South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the drone-killing laser weapons developed by the South Korean military in collaboration with Hanwha Aerospace are effective and cost-effective.
It clarified that the cost per shot was 2,000 won (about $1.45) and they were invisible and silent at the same time.
The administration said, “Our country will become the first in the world to deploy and operate laser weapons, thereby enhancing our military’s ability to deal with North Korean drone provocations.”
