Indian man carves a statue resembling his deceased wife
Vijay Kumar, a 70-year-old Indian man, lost his wife to cancer four years ago, so he decided to carve a marble statue resembling her.
The statue took six weeks to make and was sculpted to closely resemble his wife, with gray-colored hair and a traditional pink Indian dress.
Two cranes were needed to transport the sculpture to Vijay’s home.
He said that he wanted to convey the idea of the importance of love between spouses to today’s youth.
Vijay is not the first person to attempt to immortalize his wife in unique ways. Another Indian man also spent £2,500 to design a doll that resembled his late wife.
Similarly, Tappas Sandilya, a 65-year-old man, made a silicone statue of his deceased partner.
Tappas told the “Times of India” that a few years ago, he visited a Hindu temple with his late wife and they were amazed by a lifelike statue of a religious figure.
He added, “I returned to the same temple after her death and wanted to create a similar statue as per her wish.”
