Indian or Black?.. Trump Plays on Harris’s Origins and the White House Responds
In a controversial interview at the largest annual gathering of Black journalists in America, former U.S. President Donald Trump did not miss the opportunity to attack his main Democratic rival, Kamala Harris.
The Republican presidential candidate questioned during an interview at the annual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago on Wednesday whether his Democratic rival Kamala Harris was “Indian” or “Black,” causing a wave of disapproval from an audience of about a thousand people.
The interview started on a tense note when Rachel Scott, an ABC News correspondent, recounted a series of racist comments made by Trump and asked why Black voters supported him. Trump added: “She was Indian from the beginning, and suddenly she became Black.”
