Biden and Harris launched an aggressive attack on Donald Trump

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris launched an aggressive attack on the character and performance of US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, while they made for the first time their election case as running mates.

Biden, a 77-year-old white man, adopted the significance of naming the first Black woman in the presidential ticket of the major party; however, he also focused on other attributes Harris brings to the ticket. Biden saluted the California senator, the 55-year-old former prosecutor who denounced Biden a year ago on a primary debate stage, as the right woman to help him defeat Trump and then conduct the nation many crises including pandemic, injured economy and long-simmering reckoning with racism.

Biden said at a high school gymnasium in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, that Harris is smart, she’s tough, she’s experienced, and she’s a proven fighter for the backbone of this country. He also said: Kamala knows how to govern. She knows how to make the hard calls. She’s ready to do this job on day one.

A cause of the coronavirus pandemic, the two candidates came on the scene and they are wearing protective masks in a high school gym with relatively few audiences, and not in a hall filled with cheering supporters as would normally be the case. They spoke without masks but they didn’t physically embrace.

Biden appreciated her experience questioning Trump administration officials in the Senate, and also highlighted the historic nature of her choice, noting that she is the daughter of immigrants from India and Jamaica. He said: This morning, all across the nation, little girls woke up — especially little black and brown girls, who so often feel overlooked and undervalued in their communities. But today, today, just maybe, they’re seeing themselves for the first time in a new way.

Harris took the stage after him, she spoke about some of the gender critiques that she had faced during the Democratic primary, saying that she was mindful of all the ambitious women before me, whose sacrifice, determination, and resilience makes my presence here today even possible. She then lanced an attack on Trump, criticizing him for a lack of leadership on the coronavirus pandemic. She also said: This is a moment of real consequence for America. Everything we care about our economy, our health, our children, the kind of country we live in it’s all on the line.

Trump has exploited those dynamics, and describing Harris as Phony Kamala and tagging her as the latest evidence that Biden, a five-decade veteran of the Democratic establishment, is captive to his party’s left flank. Moreover, white House adviser Kellyanne Conway insisted on Wednesday that Harris is very much part of the radical left and she suggested that the senator will have a hard time not outshining Biden, whose age and fitness for office Conway frequently mocks, she said: He’s overshadowed basically by almost everyone he comes in contact with.

The campaign of Biden appeared that it prepared for the counteroffensive, noting that just weeks ago, Trump reported that Harris would be a fine choice. And campaign finance records reveal that Trump contributed as a private citizen to the attorney general campaigns of Harris in California. Harris was elected to the Senate in 2016.
