Intense Israeli airstrikes on Tehran

The Israeli military announced that it carried out a wave of strikes on Tehran at dawn on Friday, targeting “regime infrastructure” in the Iranian capital.

In a statement, the army said Israeli forces launched “a large-scale wave of strikes against infrastructure belonging to the Iranian terrorist regime in Tehran.”

Iran’s state television reported explosions in several areas of the capital.

The confrontation between Iran on one side and Israel and the United States on the other entered its first week on Friday, after it began last Saturday with a preemptive Israeli attack targeting Tehran’s leadership.

During the opening strike of the war, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and most of the top-ranking leaders of Iran’s military and security institutions were killed.

Israeli aircraft flew intensively over the skies of Tehran at dawn on Friday, while explosions were heard across various parts of the Iranian capital.

Earlier on Thursday, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said that Israel had moved to the second phase of its attacks on Iran.

Zamir added: “At this stage, we will continue dismantling the regime and its military capabilities.”

He explained that the Israeli Air Force had carried out about 2,500 strikes against targets inside Iran since last Saturday morning during what he described as the “surprise attack phase,” asserting that Israeli forces had achieved air superiority and destroyed more than 60 percent of ballistic missile launch platforms.

Meanwhile, Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the United States Central Command, said on Friday that the United States had moved to the next phase of the war against Iran.

The American military official confirmed that U.S. forces would work systematically to dismantle Iran’s future missile production capabilities, “a process that is already underway,” noting that it would take some time.
