Interpol Urged to Arrest Exiled Muslim Brotherhood Leaders

Mahmoud Farghal, head of Egypt’s Social Justice Party, has called on Interpol to arrest leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood currently residing abroad following final judicial rulings convicting them of crimes against the Egyptian people, including the killing of innocents and incitement to violence and sabotage.

In a press statement reported by local media, Farghal stated that countries hosting these terrorists should extradite them to Egyptian authorities to avoid angering the great Egyptian people.

In December 2022, Egypt’s First Terrorism Circuit requested Interpol to issue a Red Notice for pro-Muslim Brotherhood media figures, including Moataz Matar, Mohamed Nasser, and Hamza Zobaa, in order to apprehend and detain them. The Egyptian Supreme State Security Prosecution referred them, along with others, to the Supreme State Security Criminal Court in a new case for charges related to “funding terrorism.”

A few days ago, an Egyptian court issued sentences ranging from extended imprisonment to life terms for 18 convicted individuals on charges of “leading a terrorist group and committing the crime of funding terrorism,” in the high-profile “Muslim Brotherhood Media Cell” case.

On Sunday, Cairo’s First Terrorism Circuit sentenced several pro-Muslim Brotherhood media figures residing outside Egypt, including Hamza Zobaa, Moataz Matar, Mohamed Nasser, and Abdullah El-Sherif, to life imprisonment (25 years). The court also sentenced eight other defendants to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment and declared the Muslim Brotherhood and its media committee as banned entities.
