Iran – Teheran artillery renews bombing regions in Iraqi Kurdistan
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shelled Kurdish opposition groups in Sulaymaniyah province, northern Iraq’s Kurdistan province, state television reported Sunday evening.
“For the eighth consecutive day, the Revolutionary Guards continue to bombard the headquarters of Iranian separatist terrorist organizations in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq with drones and artillery,” Iranian state television said in a brief statement.
“The Guard ground force used a Shahed-136 suicide plane in today’s operation, which targeted separatist positions in Sulaymaniyah province in northern Iraq,” it said.
Iranian news sites reported the sound of a majestic explosion in northern Iraqi Kurdistan.
Earlier in the day, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Intelligence Service vowed to “continue targeting what it called ‘unjust separatist organizations and their agents inside'”.
“Our forces managed to arrest 77 Kurdish gunmen, including members of the anti-regime Komala, PJAK and Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK),” Iran’s Ministry of Security and Intelligence said in a statement.
“Some high-level cadres of these groups who were involved in the recent protests were arrested on both sides of the country’s western border,” it said.
