Iran’s nuclear program under fire: third attack on Bushehr in 10 days
In an effort to undermine Iran’s nuclear program, strikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities continued as part of the “Epic Rage” operation.
On Friday, the International Atomic Energy Agency stated that Iran had informed it of another attack in the vicinity of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the third of its kind in 10 days, with no reported damage to the operational reactor or any radioactive leakage.
The agency said that Iran reported the plant’s condition remained normal following the attack.
The attack, which Israel did not mention, came hours after Tel Aviv announced that it had struck the heavy water reactor in Arak, a key infrastructure for the production of plutonium intended for a nuclear weapon.
According to the statement, Israeli fighter jets attacked the heavy water reactor in central Iran under the direction of the military intelligence directorate.
Iran acknowledged the attack but did not disclose the extent of the damage. Iranian media also reported that a yellowcake plant in Ardakan was bombed without any radioactive material leaking outside the complex.
Yellowcake is an intermediate stage in the process of converting raw uranium into nuclear fuel.
This plant is considered the only one of its kind in Iran, where raw materials extracted from underground undergo mechanical and chemical processing in preparation for later use as feedstock in the uranium enrichment process, according to another statement from the Israeli army confirming the targeting of this rare facility.
