Iraq.. Terrorist organizations seek to exploit the scene
The international community is in a state of anxiety due to the development of the unrest that is currently taking place in Iraq. With the increasing divisions and acts of violence, terrorist militias and more dangerous organizations, led by the terrorist organization ISIS, are exploiting it to try to return to the scene and make up for the losses that have occurred recently.
ISIS Attempts
Iraqi media reports revealed that ISIS is seeking to return once again to continue its terrorist activities and plans, taking advantage of the current crisis in Iraq and the escalation of its terrorist attacks, especially that the Joint Operations Command in Iraq decided to lift the curfew on Tuesday, after the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, called on his supporters to withdraw from the streets. Reports mentioned that there were attempts by ISIS members to infiltrate the public road connecting the cities of Kirkuk and Al-Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq, and the matter became clear after the terrorist group kidnapped two young men from the Laylan area, one of whom the security authorities later found a hook.
Crisis exploitation
Dr. Watheq al-Hashimi, head of the Iraqi Group for Strategic Studies, believes that terrorist groups, led by ISIL, are trying through their malicious plans to inflame the internal situation in Iraq in order to bring them back to Iraq after the losses they suffered throughout the past period, especially with the stability of Iraq recently.
Al-Hashimi added in a special statement to Al-Arab Mubasher that ISIL’s attempts to infiltrate Iraqi cities are a dangerous development and are made more dangerous by the current crisis in the country, especially in the capital Baghdad. This requires everyone to reach a quick consensus for the higher interest of the country and work towards the stability of the state, against attempts by these terrorist elements to return to the scene once again.
Return of terrorism
Dr. Hussein Allawi, a professor of national security at Al-Nahrain University in Iraq, said: We are facing a real danger, which is the attempt by those extremist terrorist elements to return to the political scene. This calls for everyone to exercise caution, because there are parties that are funding and supporting the return of ISIS to Iraq after their recent defeats.
Iraq had previously declared the elimination of ISIS after undermining the capabilities of the terrorist organization, which in 2014 occupied about one third of the country’s territory, including Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city. However, the organization occasionally carries out attacks, especially during the past months, targeting Iraqi military personnel and civilians in several provinces such as Kirkuk, Nineveh, Diyala and Salâh ad-Dîn.
