Islamic parties in Turkey continue to support Israel… Details

Islamic political parties in Turkey, such as the ruling Justice and Development Party and the Islamic Happiness Party, have played a significant role in supporting the state of Israel, apart from the loud statements made by party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan and several party officials.

Turkish trade dealings with Israel have angered the Turkish people, so any video or image showing the export of goods to Israel attracts significant attention. The Turkish public has been preoccupied with the news of a member of one of the Islamic parties exporting tomatoes to Israel over the past two days.

This prompted the Islamic Happiness Party, led by Temel Karamollaoğlu and opposed to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to dismiss a key member due to his involvement in business operations with Israel, while the party continues its war on Gaza for the past two and a half months.

Especially since the party had called on the Turkish Parliament to cease all commercial activities with Tel Aviv. In detail, the Happiness Party removed the head of the party’s branch in the coastal province of Mersin, Nurbaki Shahin, from his position, and then expelled him entirely from the party, due to his export of tomatoes to Israel through his private company, according to an official decision issued yesterday. However, the controversy around him continues until now.

He confirmed that “trade between the two countries has not been interrupted and has been ongoing for years until October 7th, but what has changed after this date is the presence of popular demands to stop trading with Tel Aviv.”

It is worth mentioning that it was recently revealed that many high-ranking members of the Justice and Development Party, especially Burak, the son of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the sons of Binali Yıldırım, the party’s deputy chairman, continue their business activities with Israel during the Gaza bombardment.

The Turkish government stated that trade with Israel is conducted through private companies and not government entities, attempting to disclaim responsibility. Many videos have been circulated over the past few days on social media showing shipments of Turkish clothes, coffee, and food reaching the Israeli army.
