Israel institutionalizes Trump’s plan for the “expulsion of Gaza”

In a practical step to implement its plan to expel the residents of Gaza, Israel has approved the establishment of a “voluntary migration” department for Gaza residents to a third country.

The approval of this department by Israel’s Security Cabinet came amid the expansion of the Israeli ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

According to Israeli public broadcasting, “The Cabinet approved at its meeting last night the establishment of a ‘voluntary migration’ department for Gaza residents to a third country, in accordance with Israeli and international law, and based on the vision of U.S. President Donald Trump.”

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated, “Israel will allow every Gaza resident to leave the Gaza Strip of their own free will.”

According to the Israeli public broadcaster, “The department will coordinate with international organizations and additional entities, as well as all relevant ministries. Its tasks will include ensuring safe passage for Gaza residents through Israel’s land, sea, and air crossings to the countries that will accommodate them.”

It added, “The ministers were also presented with plans during the meeting to continue the logistical siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and increase military pressure on Hamas with the aim of releasing the kidnapped individuals and achieving all war objectives.”

It is worth noting that Israel faces difficulties in convincing countries to accept Palestinians from Gaza.

Palestinians, along with Arab, Islamic, and Western countries, oppose the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza.

Recently, Trump announced that Palestinians would not be forced to leave Gaza.

Military pressure

However, Israeli military movements on the ground in Gaza are pushing towards the expulsion of Palestinians.

In addition to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes, Israel’s cessation of humanitarian aid to Gaza signals a food shortage.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated: “The food security sector warns that over a million people are at risk of being without food parcels in March if supplies are not allowed to enter Gaza.”

Food shortage

It added, “Between 10 to 20 percent of pregnant and breastfeeding women, among the 4,500 women surveyed, suffer from malnutrition, according to a recent analysis conducted by the nutrition group.”

It continued, “UN agencies warn that life-saving medical equipment, including 20 ventilators needed for neonatal intensive care units and nine portable incubators for newborns, along with other aid supplies, are stuck at the border due to the closure of crossings for incoming goods for the 17th consecutive day.”

It noted, “Since the early hours of March 18, reports indicate Israeli airstrikes and bombardments across the Gaza Strip, causing civilian casualties, displacements, and property damage.”

It added, “Since March 2, Israeli authorities have been preventing the entry of all humanitarian supplies, as well as any other goods into Gaza. This has severely impacted humanitarian operations and exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation.”

Evacuation alerts

Today, the Israeli military warned residents of Tal Sultan in Rafah to evacuate.

It said, “Urgent alert to Gaza residents in the Tal Sultan area in Rafah… The area where you are located is considered a dangerous combat zone.”

It added, “Gush Katif street is considered a humanitarian route for your use to move to the Mawasi area.”

It continued, “Movement by vehicles is prohibited, and staying in shelters, tents, and houses, or moving through unspecified roads puts your life and the lives of your families at risk.”

Similar evacuation alerts had been issued in previous days for residents in other areas of Gaza.
