Israel strikes central nuclear development site in Iran
Israel announced on Thursday that it carried out an attack on a central site dedicated to developing nuclear weapons capabilities in Iran.
According to a statement by the Israeli army, “as part of the waves of strikes carried out in recent days in Tehran, the Israeli Air Force targeted an additional site within the Iranian nuclear program, namely the Talqan site, which the regime has used to develop critical capabilities in nuclear weapons development.”

The statement noted that the site had been used in recent years to “develop advanced explosive materials and conduct sensitive experiments as part of Project Amad, the secret nuclear weapons development program.”
The Israeli army emphasized that “during Operation Rising Lion, our forces systematically targeted knowledge centers and infrastructure that had strengthened Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities, aiming to eliminate an existential threat against the State of Israel.”
It continued: “Despite the heavy blow to the program, the Iranian regime has not abandoned its program and has continued to develop and enhance the capabilities required to produce a nuclear weapon.”

The statement also highlighted that “recent attempts by the regime to rebuild the site have been observed, following the attack it suffered in October 2024.”
The Israeli army clarified that “this strike constitutes an additional layer in the ongoing effort to deprive the regime of the essential components required to obtain a nuclear weapon.”
The U.S. and Israel’s strikes on February 28 against Iran resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day of the offensive.
This Israeli-American attack came weeks after Iranian authorities had suppressed large-scale protests in the country, initially demanding economic improvements and later raising political slogans opposing the ruling regime.
