Jordan’s King Abdullah II, the most popular leader in the world and closer to his citizens
Jordan’s King Abdullah II is hugely popular. He is considered one of the most popular Arab leaders because of his many positions with his people, his closeness to them, and his achievement in the Hashemite Kingdom.
The Jordanian monarch’s popularity is not limited to his own people, but also extends abroad. He enjoys great international and Arab popularity because of his good relations with everyone, and he is the one to whom the principle of “zero crises” applies.
Distinguished international and local stature
Ahmad al-Sharif, a 35-year-old Jordanian, said: King Abdullah enjoys wide international support. Most countries in the world and all Arab countries support his measures to preserve Jordan’s security and stability.
He added that the matter does not stop with the leaders and heads of state of the world, as the King of Jordan enjoys a great position at the local level mixed with feelings of loyalty and gratitude to the leader of the development process in the Kingdom.
Popular support
Waleed al-Hashemi, 25, a civil engineer, said: “We have great confidence and faith in the capabilities of the Jordanian king and we know that he is capable of achieving more stability, achievements and development of different sectors”.
Ahmed Mustafa, a real estate worker, said: “King Abdullah’s popularity surfaced during last year’s crisis after the arrest of a number of high-profile figures who attempted a coup”.
Such practices have provoked popular anger and increased the king’s popularity and love, he said. All citizens’ feelings have shifted to supporting the king in his march and thwarting any attempts that seek to seize power.
While Alizadeh said: “The king is keen to visit many areas of the kingdom to meet with citizens and talk to them directly”.
“The king also considers the Royal Court the House of Jordanians, because it is an open place where anyone can go and meet with citizens, as well as popular and official events”, he said.
Youth support
King Abdullah is extremely popular among young Jordanians, who are at the forefront of concerns.
“There is a good relationship between young people and the king because he is close to everyone, and some young people take him as an example”, said Omar al-Hashemi, a university student.
He continued: “King Abdullah succeeded in leading his country, and the reputation of his sons is very good. None of them is above the law or exceeds his behavior, because he is the king’s son”.
