Kenya: 17 Students Killed in School Fire
At least 17 students lost their lives this Friday after a fire broke out in the dormitory of their school in central Kenya, police reported to AFP.
According to media reports, the victims were burned beyond recognition.
Police spokesperson Resila Onyango told Kenyan radio that additional rescue workers were on their way to Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri, and authorities would provide further details later.

Onyango told Reuters via phone: “We have lost 17 students in the fire, and 14 others have been injured. Our team is currently at the scene.”
Citizen TV earlier reported that the flames had burned the students so severely that identification was difficult.
