UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Jordanian King Abdullah II discussed relations between the two countries and ways of cooperation and joint action.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received King Abdullah II at Qasr Al Shatie on Thursday, the official WAM news agency reported.
The President of the UAE and the King of Jordan reviewed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries and the opportunities for its development in the political, economic, investment and development fields, and worked to advance them in the coming period, in order to achieve the common interests of the two countries.
Jordanian King Abdullah II’s visit to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday crowned the historic relations between the two countries and their strategic partnership.
The visit is the Jordanian king’s third to the UAE in four months. The summit between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Jordan’s King Abdullah II is the fourth between the two in the same period.
The periodic summits between the United Arab Emirates and Jordan express the strength of deep-rooted brotherly relations and the importance of coordination between them to achieve common aspirations, unify the Arab ranks, fortify the countries of the region and protect their security.
The visit is of particular importance in terms of bilateral relations, as well as regional, Arab and international relations. It comes three weeks before the Arab-American Summit in Jeddah on July 16, in which US President Joe Biden and the leaders of the Gulf States, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq will participate.
The visit reflects Jordan’s keenness to co-ordinate with the UAE leadership as part of the country’s joint efforts to promote bilateral cooperation, strengthen Arab and regional solidarity, and enhance security and stability in the region.
The upcoming summit between Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and the Jordanian King is the second Arab summit for the President of the United Arab Emirates within 24 hours. He met on Wednesday with Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, the President of Somalia, who arrived in Abu Dhabi on his first official visit abroad since his election as President last May.
