Marseille: A major fire in Vitrolles
A major fire broke out this Thursday afternoon at impasse Descartes, in Vitrolles, near Marseille, learned 20 Minutes from the Bouches-du-Rhône firefighters. At the time these lines were written, five hectares had gone up in smoke. The SCNF line was cut, as well as the exit ramp Vitrolles on the A7 in the direction Marseille-Vitrolles and the RN113 in both directions. Three drops were carried out and a hundred firefighters were mobilized.
Major gusts of wind are sweeping the region, which is also plagued by drought. This situation had prompted the firefighters to put in place a reinforced vigilance system, with 200 firefighters pre-positioned on the ground.
