Mass demonstrations in Mokha, Yemen, denounce Iranian attacks against the Gulf and Jordan
Thousands of Yemenis took to the streets on Saturday in the historic city of Mokha overlooking the Red Sea to condemn Iran’s ongoing attacks against Gulf countries and Jordan.
The demonstration, called for by the National Resistance and the local authorities of Yemen’s western coast, echoed slogans rejecting Iranian attacks targeting the security and stability of the Gulf Arab states and Jordan.
Participants affirmed the unity of destiny between Yemen and its brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan, considering that any harm to the security of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, and Jordan constitutes a direct attack on Arab national security, the repercussions of which affect Yemen and the entire region.
Protesters reiterated “their rejection of the Iranian subversive project in the region and their unified stand alongside the Gulf countries and Jordan in confronting any threats to their sovereignty, security, and stability.”
Participants called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to Tehran’s blatant interference, which seeks to destabilize international maritime routes and spread chaos through its proxies in the region.
The statement issued after the demonstration stressed that Yemenis stand united alongside their brothers in the Gulf countries and Jordan against Iranian attacks targeting civilian facilities, infrastructure, and energy installations, as well as attempts to drag the region’s countries into a bloody war that would undermine their security, stability, and threaten global peace.
The statement also affirmed Yemen’s readiness to make every sacrifice to confront the Iranian escalation, which they described as an extension of Tehran’s aggression against the Yemeni people.
It warned against the escalation by Houthi militias along the Red Sea coast and their repeated threats to international freedom of navigation, emphasizing that the security of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea represents national and Arab constants that cannot be compromised.
Participants called on the Presidential Leadership Council to assume its constitutional responsibilities and work swiftly to complete the liberation of the capital, Sanaa, from the Houthi militias, one of Iran’s proxies that threaten Arab national security and international navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
It is worth noting that the Mokha demonstration follows similar protests in Marib, Taiz, Hadramout, and Al-Mahra in solidarity with the Gulf countries and Jordan against Iranian attacks.
