Muslim Brotherhood dissident: Dispute between the two factions has entered a new phase characterized by openness and extreme severity
In light of the on-going conflict between the Brotherhood’s London and Istanbul fronts, each group’s online committees have intensified their campaigns against the other in the past few days, specifically since the official announcement by the London leadership of the selection of Salah Abdul Haq as acting supreme guide, which sparked a new crisis with Mahmoud Hussein and his group. It is clear that this will be public and managed by the Brotherhood’s committees on social media.
Brotherhood Committees
A report by Roaya revealed that several pages and accounts belonging to the Istanbul Front have launched in the past few days campaigns aimed primarily at implicating Salah Abdul Haq in a number of files that have been pending within the organization for years, and demanding that they be resolved, as he is acting as the Supreme Guide; For example, its demand to end the crisis of the Muslim Brotherhood imprisoned on terrorism charges in Egypt is almost impossible because of its legal ties. The campaign also demanded that the new acting leader provide additional support to the Brotherhood inside Egypt, and address the problems of the Brotherhood abroad, among others.
This is rejected by a large segment of the Brotherhood’s leadership, especially the youth. Not everyone agrees that Abdul Haq was appointed to the post at this time, as he does not have the skills or relations to contain the organization’s growing crises.
Dispute
Dr. Tariq Al-Basheishi, a leading Brotherhood defector who specializes in terrorist groups, says: The severe organizational dispute over Salah Abdul Haq, which was the reason for the delay in officially announcing it about four months ago, is reflected in the wave of great anger within the Brotherhood during the past period, to the extent that some leaders within the organization declared the need to abandon the principle of obedience, which has long been the governing feature of the relationship between the group’s bases and their leaders.
He added: The disputes and skirmishes between the two fronts are old, renewed after the announcement of Salah Abdul Haq acting as the guide two weeks ago, and is largely managed through electronic committees affiliated with each front, and reinforced the state of anger within the organization that Salah Abdul Haq came without elections, which is rejected by a large section of the Brotherhood’s bases, especially the youth.
He added that the crisis inside the Brotherhood entered a new chapter after the London Front’s announcement of the selection of Salah Abdul Haq, which was evident in the writings of a number of the organization’s activists through various media sites in attacking or supporting the decision. However, it reflects in any case the deepening circle of organizational collapse within the Brotherhood, as well as the deep differences surrounding the position of acting leader and the majority of executive positions within the Brotherhood.
These differences will undoubtedly deepen the current crisis of organizational collapse. It is expected that the crisis will continue for a long time over the coming months without a solution, and may witness a mutual escalation on both sides, in light of current developments within the organization.
