Muslim Brotherhood.. The group is banned from the Indian Ocean to Latin America. What is its fate?
Less than 48 hours after Paraguay’s decision to put the Muslim Brotherhood on its terror lists, the Comoros took a similar step, which will limit the capabilities of the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood and tighten the noose around its members.
The Comoros Interior Ministry has declared the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS and Boko Haram as terrorists among 69 entities.
The list included the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), the International Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, al-Shabaab, Ansar al-Sharia in Tunisia, the Islamic Group in Egypt, movements affiliated with Shiite networks such as the Houthis in Yemen and all structures associated with Hezbollah in the Gulf States.
Article 1 of the Ministry of Interior’s decision states that “these procedures concern all the physical and moral organizations that have a relationship and work with these concerned structures.”
“The Comoros wants to send a strong signal of its willingness to fight terrorism in all its forms, to combat all activities of financing terrorist groups, to attack all structures that finance criminal activities, and to implement the provisions of the law on combating terrorism and money laundering,” the new resolution said.
The organization was once again slapped with Paraguay’s terrorist designation, after the Congressional Standing Committee approved a resolution submitted by Senator Lilian Samanijo to declare the Brotherhood a terrorist group.
“The State of Paraguay categorically rejects all acts, methods and practices of terrorism which constitute a serious violation of the purposes and principles of the United Nations and which may constitute a threat to international peace and security,” the resolution added.
The resolution approved by the Standing Committee of the Paraguayan Congress highlights that “in its war against terrorism, the government of the Republic of Paraguay has designated Hizballah, al-Qaida and ISIS as terrorist organizations as well, and this important step will help to limit the ability of these groups to plan terrorist attacks and destabilize nations.”
The Muslim Brotherhood has been subjected to numerous restrictions by European countries, which began in the middle of last year and intensified after the European Union passed the law on combating terrorism and extremism with new mechanisms.
Dr. Ibrahim Rabie says: “The report issued by the Comoros Islands says that the agencies monitored the presence of terrorist groups in the Indian Ocean region, which is mainly an economic presence, not armed activity, especially that the activity of terrorist groups is piracy, smuggling weapons, illegal acts, arms trade to provide financing for terrorist activity.”
The Brotherhood’s inclusion on the Brotherhood’s terror list demonstrates international vigilance and attention to groups that use religion as a cover, and that do not shrink from money laundering, arms trafficking, prostitution, and drug dealing to provide the greatest possible funding for their terrorist operations, the dissident leader added, noting that the Brotherhood’s fate will be like that of a witch and a witch.
He added that this new strike is the second for the Muslim Brotherhood in a week, as the Standing Committee of the Paraguayan Congress agreed to consider the Brotherhood a terrorist group.
